SOME OF OUR COMMITTEES/PROJECTS:
ACCELERATED READER STORE
The AR Store is an exciting event for students.
It is located in the
library's "reading loft" room. This is
area stocked with novelty gift items
students may purchase with the AR points they have
earned throughout the semester.
Students earn AR Points by reading books and taking
AR quizzes. The more
books they read, the more AR Points they earn!
Then, twice a year they
may go to the AR Store with their class and spend
the points they have accumulated.
Gift items are offered for 1, 2, 3, 5, 10, 15,
20, 30, 50,& 100
points. The AR Store items are purchased by the
money the PTO raises. The
store is stocked and staffed by PTO Volunteers.
Time commitment is daily divided time slots 8am - 2pm for 1 week in
the fall and spring.
BOOK FAIR
The NAES Book Fair is a once a year event. The "Books
Are Fun"
representative sets up racks of books and tables
full of novelty items in
the Recreation Room beside the cafeteria. Each
class/grade has a designated time
per the office to come shop at the book fair. This
project encourages reading
and the proceeds from the book sales go toward
purchasing new books for our school library. The books range in price
from a few dollars to $15.
The book fair is organized and run entirely by
PTO volunteers. It is a full
week in the fall from 8 - 2:30pm. Volunteers sign
up for time slots as
organized by the committee chair.
HOMEROOM CLASS PARTIES
There are 3 homeroom parties a year: October, December, & February.
Each class will have
a minimum of 1 homeroom mother to organize and
be the contact person
for class parties. You will receive a sign up sheet indicating what you may be able to provide for
your child's class party.
These should be returned to your child's teacher
who will give them to the homeroom
mother. You will be notified as to what to provide
based on the information
given. If you are available to attend your child's
party, you are always welcome. Please attend the class parties
as you can.
LEVEL 5 FIELD DAY
Level 5 Field Day is a full day of fun provided
to the students by NAES as a reward
for achieving Level 5 Accreditation. The PTO
is needed to provide volunteers
to assist teachers by providing an extra adult
where needed. This time commitment is 8 - 2:30.
LEVEL 5 TEACHER LUNCH
The PTO provides the opportunity for the teachers
to sit and enjoy a nice quiet
lunch away from their classroom.this is a celebration
and reward for the
teachers for the school achieving Level 5 Accreditation.
PTO Volunteers sit
in the classrooms while the teachers enjoy their
special lunch. This lunch
will be September 21, 2007. PTO Volunteers are
needed this day from 11am until 12noon.
MCT TESTING HELP
Toward the end of the school year, in early May,
the MCT Test is
administered to the students at NAES. During these
test days, the staff and administration
of NAES must adhere to strict guidelines regarding
state testing protocols.
The PTO provides much needed assistance as hall
monitors to ensure
a quiet atmosphere for the testing students as
well as blocking traffic from up and down the hallways.
OPEN HOUSE
The PTO assists with NAES Open House by providing
direction to students& parents
to help them locate classrooms, making copies
for the teachers, etc.Open
House this year will be September 10th PTO Volunteers

YEARBOOK
The NAES Yearbook is created entirely by PTO Volunteers.
From sales to production
to picture taking, the PTO handles every part
of production of the
elementary school yearbook. Without the PTO,
NAES would not have a yearbook.
EVERY parent or guardian of a child enrolled
at NAES can have a part
in helping us produce the best yearbook possible,
by submitting pictures.
We request group shots mostly, not just pictures
of one particular
child. If you have some photos from class parties,
field trips, or recess,
etc.please submit these for consideration! The
more photos, the better
the yearbook!!
