New
Albany Elementary carefully tracks the progress
and success of their students by traditional classroom
assessment techniques, as well as standardized
testing.
Each year two standardized tests are given to
assess student achievement. Students in grades
K-2 participate in the Stanford Achievement testing
program, while students in grades 3-5 are administered
the MCT 2 (Mississippi Curriculum Test). Both
the Stanford Achievement Test, norm referenced
assessment, and the MCT 2, criterion referenced
assessment, are used to obtain valuable information
needed to drive our instructional program.

- To identify and examine areas of strength and weakness in the performance of our students, by individual and grade,
that may have future implications for curriculum change.
- To provide a basis for reports to parents and students.
- To inform our teachers of the needs of their students, resulting in the ability to work toward increasing
student achievement and closing achievement gaps.
